EN/ISO 23553

ISO 23553-1 specifies safety requirements, design and performance requirements, and testing of shut-off devices for liquid fuels. It covers only type testing. It applies to safety shut-off devices such as:

• Devices designed as automatic valves or quick-closing devices.
• Devices used in combustion plants to interrupt the flow of liquid fuels.
• Devices intended for use with heating oils.
• Devices that are part of an apparatus with another function, such as oil pumps, specifically the components necessary for the shut-off function.
• Devices with an operating pressure of up to 5,000 kPa, for use on burners or appliances using liquid fuels.
• Devices that are directly or indirectly operated electrically, mechanically, or hydraulically.
